Day #66 “The Pre-Race Playlist”

Thursday, March 7, 2013

Tomorrow will be the first race of the 2013 track season.  I’m surprisingly not that nervous and I’m actually excited because I want to see myself break 12 minutes tomorrow for the 2 mile (which I’m very confident that I can do) and I’m really interested in what it feels liks to be racing at 9 pm.  It will be cold as heck for sure, but it’s all part of the experience (as a former teammate would say).

So today was nothing really special.  Just a regular pre-race of easy rolling, strides, icing, stretching, etc.  The shins felt okay today.  I don’t think the condition is really going to exacerbate at this point and I should be fine especially because I’m taking a break on Saturday. I also have a pre-race playlist that I made.  I generally don’t put songs in any specific order and a lot of times I just listen through an album or two or get a bunch of songs in a playlist and run the Ipod on shuffle.  Anyway, here is the bunch of songs I have put on my playlist:

You Never Can Tell – Chuck Berry
Pumpkin and Honey Bunny/Misirlou – Pulp Fiction Soundtrack
This Heaven – David Gilmour
While My Guitar Gently Weeps – The Beatles
Blue Ocean – Flying Colors
Kayla – Flying Colors
Oh Lord – Foxy Shazam
Unstoppable – Foxy Shazam
When the Levee Breaks – Led Zeppelin
Exo-politics – Muse
Invincible – Muse
Fearless – Pink Floyd
Lucifer Sam – Pink Floyd
Obscured by Clouds – Pink Floyd
Gimme Shelter – The Rolling Stones
Dimension – Wolfmother
Love Train – Wolfmother
Somebody to Love – Queen
Don’t Stop Me Now – Queen

Run Time: 46 minutes

Mileage: 4.5 miles – ish
