There has been a change of plans today about tomorrow’s race. I’m not going to be running it. There was already one person in my distance medley that wasn’t going to be there and then another one of the guys got sick which left me and my friend left in the medley and finding a replacement wasn’t really a viable option so my coach pulled us out. To be honest, I’m glad he did because the guys who run the invitationals are pretty darn fast and I didn’t really want to run the mile tomorrow especially after Wednesday and I want more training time to get faster.
So today, my coach had me and everyone else not running tomorrow do a speed/hard-ish workout. It was a ladder of 300, 200, 100, 50, 100, 200, 300 at supposedly 800 pace but I just went as fast as I could. The workout was surprisingly harder than I thought and by the last 50m of the last 300, I felt all the pain at once and man, it hurt like heck. I’m definitely going to be feeling this workout tomorrow, but I was overall satisfied with the workout. After all, it is Friday.
