Wednesday and Thursday, May 8 and 9, 2013
Let’s just say Wednesday wasn’t an optimal race for me. 5:21 isn’t a bad time for a 1600, but it wasn’t what I was expecting and I felt like I didn’t leave it all out on the track. I felt like I held back a little for no real reason. I just wimped out and didn’t go for it like I should have. At this point I’m just ready for Friday’s 3200 (2 mile). It’s going to be around 8:15 so twilight going into the night under the lights on the track. What my coach told me was to not worry about my time so much in the two mile. The time for safe races and safe PRs is over and now that it is the last race of the season, it’s time to gamble. It’s time to go for the time you’ve been wanting all year even if it means that burn out the last few laps. If you succeed, you’ll have one heck of a PR and if you don’t, at least you tried.
This talk really put me in a good mood. I’m determined to go for an 11:20 (which is 85 per lap) and if I don’t quite get it, it’s better than not trying at all and never finding out if I really could.
RT: 35 minutes
M: about 4 miles
