Summer Entry 1: Injury Prevention

June 18, 2014

For some reason, I’m starting to feel the beginnings of shin splints or some sort of injury that has to do with the calf part of your legs.  My shins have been on and off in terms of them hurting and not hurting, but the lower calf muscles have been feeling really tight lately.  The stretching, rolling, and icing has done little to alleviate the pain.  On my runs they tend to start burning and I have to stop and stretch them out.  In the mean time the fixed training schedule is looking to be cross training in the gym on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends and easy trail runs with the team on the other days.

Little annoyances like these can really suck, but it’s better to deal with them now.
